Ray Spence
Ray Spence is a fine art photographer based in Dunchurch, Rugby. He is a prolific exhibitor with past exhibitions in the Manege gallery in St Petersburgh, the Menier gallery in London, the Herbert Art Gallery in Coventry as well as Rugby and Leamington art galleries. He is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society and recipient of the prestigious RPS Fenton Medal. A retired lecturer in photography at the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design (now Birmingham City University). Author of many books and articles on photography including 'Beyond Monochrome' which was awarded the Kodak photography book of the year. Ray now works mainly with a Victorian process from 1851 called Wet Plate Collodion in which he makes his own large format plates using glass or metal.
